EIU Pine Honors College

The Washington Center

Eastern Illinois University partners with The Washington Center (TWC) to offer immersive internship experiences in Washington, D.C.

During your semester or summer with TWC’s Academic Internship Program, you’ll engage in three main program components - a full-time internship, an academic course you’ll attend one evening every week, and career readiness programming with professional development workshops and opportunities to network.

Through your TWC experience, you would earn up to 15 credit hours for the semester or 9 credit hours for the summer.

Life in D.C. isn’t all work, though. Want to know what it was like for someone in your shoes? Hear from recent TWC alumni Kellie or Nicholas on some of what D.C. offers in your free time.

Ready to discuss this more? Contact Richard England, Ph.D. at to talk about interning in D.C. and sign up to learn more!

See the wide range of internships that TWC offers its students--in everything from politics to the healthcare sector, from education to the environment. Review TWC's list of sample internship sites to learn more!
