EIU Pine Honors College

Scholarships and Awards for Current Students

Current (and incoming freshman) students at Eastern Illinois University can apply for several scholarships that are administered through the Pine Honors College. Since not all of these scholarships require you to be an Honors student, please review the criteria and strict deadline associated with each scholarship.

  • All applications must be submitted at eiu.AcademicWorks.com.
  • All applications are due March 15 unless otherwise noted.

Open Only to Honors Undergraduates

  • Dorothy Davis Bunge Scholarship
  • First Neighbor Bank Scholarship
  • Herbert Lasky Award for Outstanding Honors Senior
  • Honors Study Abroad Scholarships: different deadlines depending on the term of study
  • Honors Transfer Student Scholarship
  • Rachael Richardson Scholarship
  • Sandra and Jack Pine Scholarship in Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics

Open to All EIU Undergraduates

  • Margaret Schmidt Memorial Scholarship
  • John L. Whisnand Scholarship
  • President Doudna Scholarship for incoming freshmen

Requirements

All applications require a résumé that highlights extracurricular activities and achievements, and participation in undergraduate research, performance, and service to the community. Submit document in Word or PDF format, labeled "Last name First name Résumé Year."

  • Essay reflecting on what an EIU honors education has done for the student during his or her time at EIU (300-500 words)
  • Attendance at the Pine Honors College Awards Ceremony in the Spring, where the recipient will be honored with a medallion
