Withdrawals and Refunds

Withdrawals

Your financial aid eligibility depends on the number of hours you are enrolled in. The number of hours enrolled is established at the census date, traditionally this is the 10th day of class which coincides with the add/drop period for a semester. The summer census date varies based on the length of the course taken. All census dates can be found on the academic calendar. For more information on the census date policy see here.

If you drop credits prior to the 10th day of class (the census date), you may be required to repay some or all of your aid that was disbursed to you if you do not, at that time, meet the enrollment requirements for the types of aid you have been awarded.

If you add credits after the 10th day of class (the census date), you may not be eligible to receive additional financial aid.

If you withdrawal from a course after the 10th day of class (the census date), your current semester financial aid will not be impacted. We are not be required to pro-rate or return any funds for a withdrawn course.

This policy does not apply to students who withdraw from all courses. Complete withdrawals from the university are subject to federal, state, and institutional refund policies. Please review this policy for more information regarding complete withdrawals from the university.

Refunds

Financial aid will first pay to the student’s account to cover the cost billed at the institution. If there is an over-payment of funds, the remaining credit will be issued to the student in the form of a refund. To check the status of a refund, please contact the Student Accounts office at (217) 581-3715.
