Tuition Waivers
EIU employees, annuitants, and dependents may be eligible for tuition waivers. Please view appropriate employment category for eligibility. Online applications must be submitted before the beginning of each semester.
Academic Professional, ASP, & Faculty
Administration Professional, ASP and Faculty employees are eligible for a tuition waiver only at EIU's campus. An employee on a 100% contract is eligible to receive a waiver for a maximum of two courses or six credit hours per semester, whichever is greater. Part-time employees may also be eligible for the waiver, but at a reduced number of credit hours per semester.
Civil Service (including negotiated employees)
Civil Service employees are eligible for a tuition waiver at EIU's campus as well as other public Illinois institutions of higher education. An employee on a 100% contract is eligible to receive a waiver for a maximum of two courses or six credit hours per semester, whichever is greater. Part-time employees may also be eligible for the waiver, but at a reduced number of credit hours per semester.
Coaches
Temporary employees are eligible for tuition waivers effective at the beginning of the second fiscal year. An employee on a 100% contract is eligible to receive a waiver for a maximum of six credit hours per semester.
Annuitants
An employee who has retired from EIU is eligible to receive a waiver for a maximum of one course or three credit hours per semester, whichever is greater. Annuitant tuition waivers are to be turned in to the Human Resources Office, Old Main Room 2020 before the beginning of each semester.
Dependents
The parent or guardian of the waiver recipient must have been employed by any public Illinois university for at least seven years and active on the first day of the semester the waiver is utilized. Children receiving the waiver must be undergraduates, under the age 25 at the commencement of the academic year the waiver takes effect, must qualify for admissions, and can only receive a maximum of four years of the 50% tuition waiver benefit.
