In 2022, Eastern Illinois University was honored to receive the prestigious Jean Dreyfus Lectureship for Undergraduate Institutions award from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. One of the key objectives of this award is to bring a renowned scientist to the EIU campus to discuss chemical science and inspire more students to pursue careers in this field.
We are excited to announce that Prof. Joseph Hupp from Northwestern University will be our Jean Dreyfus Lecturer! He will deliver two talks to the EIU community: the first on August 26 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Phipps Lecture Hall, and the second on August 27 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Lumpkin Auditorium. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how this "highly-cited scientist" conducts chemical research with his graduate and undergraduate students to advance catalysis science and destroy chemical warfare agents as well as how he became interested in the STEM fields! Here are the abstracts of our Dreyfus seminar 1 and seminar 2.
