Every March celebrates women's history—commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history. Every year EIU's Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program organizes a month of programming including a keynote speaker to deliver a lecture on the given year's theme. Dr. Teresa Milbrodt will explore this year's theme of Monstrous and Feminist Others by reading from her fiction and discussing her interest in disability and sexuality.
Teresa Milbrodt, PhD, is Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing, and Disability Studies at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. Dr. Milbrodt’s literary publications include Instances of Head-Switching (Shade Mountain Press 2020), Work Opportunities: Stories (Portage Press 2018), Larissa Takes Flight: Stories (Booth Books 2014), The Patron Saint of Unattractive People (Boxfire Press 2013), and Bearded Women: Stories (ChiZine Publications 2011).
