Dear visitors and prospective students:
Welcome to the Gail & Richard Lumpkin School of Nursing. The School of Nursing is located at Ninth Street Hall and offers both the traditional four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the registered nursing to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) degrees. EIU nursing is proud to offer an exceptional student-centered educational experience.
The curriculum at EIU is grounded in liberal arts education and focused on experiential learning to effectively integrate and apply knowledge to practice. We have created strong clinical partnerships in rural and urban settings that provide excellent hands-on clinical exploration and learning. Also, students will apply their skills in our new multifunctional and interdisciplinary simulation laboratory. The simulation laboratory provides a controlled, safe, and interprofessional environment where students can practice using the latest technology.
The faculty at EIU are highly experienced practitioners dedicated to teaching, research, and service to our university and community. Our faculty believe that each student is a unique individual with different educational needs. They care about students and are committed to their evidence-based research and teaching strategies to engage learners in all aspects of the curriculum.
The State of Illinois and our nation face a growing shortage of nurses. The nursing profession needs passionate and innovative nurses prepared to face the challenges of healthcare. We at EIU are All In for our nursing students and dedicated to educating the next generation of nurses who will care for diverse populations and promote health.
The programs at the Gail & Richard Lumpkin School of Nursing would not be possible without our donors, healthcare partners, faculty, staff, students, and their families. Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you will join us.
Sincerely,
Holly
