The Simple Steps to Becoming A Panther

  

Applying to the Political Science Graduate Program: 

  1. Submit application materials for the Graduate School via MyEIU. If you are an international student, make sure you designate yourself as such in MyEIU; otherwise, choose the Graduate School when you log into MyEIU.
  2. Once you are admitted to EIU, submit application materials for the Political Science Program in MyEIU.
Applications for admission to the Political Science Graduate Program are accepted at any time.
Applications for Graduate Assistantships (available only for full-time students who can be on campus daily) must be complete by November 1 for Spring assistantships, or March 1 for Fall assistantships. You apply for these within MyEIU.

Admission Requirements

U.S. Residents: 

Submit application materials, including a $30 application fee, to the Graduate School via MyEIU. Application fee waivers are available, particularly 1st generation graduate students, people underrepresented in graduate study, and those with life experiences that add to the diversity of the graduate program. Please use this application to apply.
Mail or upload your undergraduate transcripts to the Graduate School. We require a 2.75 gpa (out of 4.0) from an accredited undergraduate institution. We do not require the GRE. You can contact the Graduate School with any questions at graduate@eiu.edu. The Graduate School's address is:

Once you are admitted to the Graduate School, submit your application materials to the Political Science Graduate Program in MyEIU. We require two emails for references (ideally from professors or employers) and a professional goals statement. You may also submit a Graduate Assistantship application at this time. Graduate assistantships are only available for full-time students who can be on campus daily.

International Applicants: 

Submit application materials to International Programs in MyEIU. Mail or upload your undergraduate transcripts and English-language certification the Office of International Students & Scholars. You can learn about English-language certification requirements from the Office of International Students & Scholars. We require a 2.75 gpa (out of 4.0) from an accredited undergraduate institution. Apply for a possible tuition waiver by submitting the International Student Tuition Scholarships Application Form.
Once you are admitted to EIU, submit application materials to the Political Science Graduate Program in MyEIU. We require two emails for references (ideally from professors or employers) and a professional goals statement. You may also submit a Graduate Assistantship Application to the Graduate School. A student cannot receive both a Graduate Assistantship (stipend + tuition waiver) and an International Student Tuition Scholarship (tuition waiver only) but should apply for both. If both are awarded, the tuition scholarship can be declined.
