Academic Advising in Political Science

After their first year, Political Science majors at Eastern Illinois University work with our academic advisers, Dr. Jeff Ashley, Dr. Paul Danyi, or Mr. John Morris on course selection, career planning, and degree options, including General Education requirements, transfer credit, and study plans.

  • Who’s my adviser?
    • Most students begin meeting with Political Science advisers once they earn 15 credits. Before that, you will meet with your adviser in the Academic Advising Center in McAfee.
    • You must meet with your adviser before registration each term. You can sign up on their office door or online usually beginning in mid-September and February. At your advising meetings, you will receive the pin number required for registration.
  • Academic advisers can connect you to other department advisers and mentors.
  • All Political Science majors are also enrolled in a D2L course: Political Science Student and Faculty Resources. Log into D2L and search for that course. Pin it to the top of your page--additional advising resources are located there, along with internship and job announcements.
