Physics Major

Quantum Physics

Physics is the scientific study of matter and energy and how they interact with each other. This energy can take the form of motion, light, electricity, radiation, gravity . . . just about anything, honestly. Physics deals with matter on scales ranging from sub-atomic particles (i.e. the particles that make up the atom and the particles that make up those particles) to stars and even entire galaxies. In the study of Physics you will develop an understanding of the phenomena of the world around you including the mathematical framework to fully appreciate the intricacy and complexity of those systems.

The classes for this major include such topics as Classical Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrodynamics, and Quantum Physics. You will gain a solid basis for experimental and theoretical Physics. This major will prepare you for graduate study in Physics. The problem solving and analytical thinking skills learned in this major can also be helpful in the job market in a wide variety of fields.
