How do I access a server share from my computer?

For Windows Users:

You may enter the server path into File Explorer's address bar or press the Windows Key + R and enter the path there. This will open your server share. 

You must know the path to the server that you wish to access. It usually takes the format of \\ServerName\ShareName\FolderName.


Mapping a network drive to a server share can give you convenient access to shares that you utilize frequently. 

Mapping the Network Drive:

Open "This PC".

Click "Map network drive".

Choose the Drive letter you wish to use and the folder you would like to connect to.

Click "Finish".


The drive will then open if you have access and the information was entered correctly. 

 

For Mac Users: 

Select Finder.

Click "Go" in the menu bar.

Select "Connect to Server".


Type the server address in the dialog box. You must know the path to the server that you wish to access. It usually take the format of smb://ServerName/ShareName/FolderName.

Click the "Connect" button to join the server.

*Clicking the "+" button will add the server to your favorite servers list.
