Subject: Strategic planning update and open sessions
Our strategic planning process entered its fifth and final phase this month, and we write to invite your continued participation in the process.
Last week, about 70 individuals from across the campus participated in a Goals Conference. During the Goals Conference, the participants reviewed the strategic themes and vision, proposed and prioritized five goals for each of the strategic themes, and drafted action plans for the top two prioritized goals for each theme.
The work created during the Goals Conference will serve as the foundation for our strategic plan, and the strategic planning steering committee will develop and refine these ideas in the coming weeks. In accordance with the guidelines that President Perry established when we began the planning process, the new strategic plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees at its January 20, 2012 meeting.
Next week, we are holding three open sessions for the campus community. At these meetings, we will review the outcomes of the Goals Conference and solicit your reactions and feedback to the goals and action plans. We invite you to participate in one of the following scheduled open sessions:
* Tuesday, November 15, 11:00 a.m.-noon, Arcola-Tuscola Room, MLK University Union
* Wednesday, November 16, 9:00-10:00 a.m., Paris Room, MLK University Union
* Wednesday, November 16, 3:00-4:00 p.m., Paris Room, MLK University Union
In addition to these open sessions, strategic planning updates will continue to be posted and comments may be submitted at http://www.eiu.edu/strategicplanning/. We also will provide campus governance groups with updates at their regularly scheduled meetings.
