DATE/TIME: Friday, October 20, 2023, 4:00 a.m. – Saturday, October 21, 2023, 5 p.m.
PURPOSE OF PROPOSED OUTAGE: Repair steam leaks in steam tunnels
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS / SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Due to an active leak in our steam system, Facilities personnel will be shutting down steam to the entire EIU campus. This is required to repair the leak and repack high pressure values. During the outage there will be no steam, no heat, and no hot water. All buildings will remain operational. If employees have concerns about their work environment, they should discuss this with their supervisor. Please also note, between 4:00am and 6:00am the steam system will be vented which will create a loud whistle sound from the old steam plant. Thank you for your patience as we continue to repair and improve our campus infrastructure.
