Subject: Duo Onboarding Today

Today you will have Duo Security available with your EIU account. You will have 1 week to enroll before it becomes required on logon. Enrollment is simple and quick. You will get an email from Duo Security (no-reply@duosecurity.com) asking you to enroll. You will set up your phone and then on the next login you will see a PUSH option. Just click push and your phone will ask you if it is you. If it is you logging in, select approve. If you are not logging in and Duo request a login, please deny the request and change your password(https://password.eiu.edu) as soon as possible.

Phone not the best option for you? You can also purchase a YubiKey from the EIU bookstore located in the MLK Union.

What is Duo Security?

Duo Security is a company that provides a cloud-based software service utilizing multifactor authentication to ensure secure access to services and data. Learn more by clicking here.

What is multifactor authentication?

Multifactor authentication provides a second layer of security to any type of login, requiring extra information or a physical device in addition to your password to log in.

By requiring different factors of authentication, we can protect user logins from remote attacks that may exploit stolen usernames and passwords.

The factors may include:

Something you know:

A unique username and password.
Something you have:

A smartphone with an app to approve authentication requests or a YubiKey.
Something you are:

Biometrics - like your fingerprint or a retina scan.
