Subject: Phishing Attempt
Over the weekend an email was sent to various individuals on campus that was a phishing attempt. A phishing attempt is a fradulent practice of trying to get individuals to willing provide personal information such as your username and password. In the email the message stated that it was unable to display the full message and had a large green box which indicated you were to click the box to show the full message. If you happened to click on the green box in this email please take the following steps to ensure that your account is secure.
- Delete the message from your inbox
- Browse to https://password.eiu.edu and reset your password

If you come across an email that you are unsure about please check the link above first to see if it is an official message sent out by EIU. If you still are unsure you can forward the email to phishing@eiu.edu and our staff can review the message to determine if it is malicous.
