Subject: Sophos Application Blocking

Starting May 15th, 2016, ITS will enable a security feature that is part of our antivirus protection. This will prevent unwanted applications from running. While these applications are not detected as malware, they can reduce computer performance and compromise your privacy. Those programs being blocked are either old versions of legitimate applications, toolbars, or other unwanted software. The full list of the programs that will be blocked is listed on our website. If a program is being blocked that you have a legitimate business need for, you may request that it be removed from the list and granted an exception. In order to file that appeal, please fill out an IT request for Sophos Application Control Exception at TechSupport.eiu.edu.
