The Master of Arts in Music, Music Education Concentration provides a course of study that is primarily online with a one-week residency on the EIU campus.
The curriculum design also allows working music educators to apply new ideas and teaching techniques directly to their classrooms as they advance through the program.

EIU uses a Textbook Rental Services to provide textbooks to students at the current rate of $9.75 per credit. Coles County residents will pick up their books from Textbook Rental on campus at 975 Edgar Drive. Students residing outside of Coles County will receive their books by mail. Students wishing to purchase copies of textbooks may do so through vendors such as Amazon.com. The textbook rental fee is a recurring fixed cost for all classes in the program.

EIU now issues a non-photo student identification cards to continuing education students that grants student the same access to library resources as on-campus students. The card will be generated upon the student's initial course registration and the School of Continuing Education will mail the card to new students.

The Doudna Fine Arts Center is a 269,380 square-foot, state-of-the-art performance and teaching complex for the departments of art, music and theatre arts. The facility includes four performance venues, ample rehearsal and practice space, a digital recording studio, an electronic music studio, and a music technology laboratory. The Doudna Fine Arts Center also offers a full array of arts events. Programming includes the New and Emerging Artists Series, other series and performances, lectures, exhibitions, and related events.
The MA in Music, Music Education concentration is offering through the College of Continuing Education as a contracted/sponsored program. For that reason, tuition waivers may not be used.
