EIU Board of Trustees meeting results: September 11, 2025

Sep-11-2025

(Charleston, IL) — Eastern Illinois University’s regular September Board of Trustees meeting took place Thursday, September 11, in EIU’s University Union, located on its Charleston, Illinois-based campus.

Outcomes of the meeting included:

  • FY26 Budget and Preliminary FY27 Budget Projection
Trustees approved the operating budget for Fiscal Year 2026 and the preliminary budget projection to be submitted to the Illinois Board of Higher Education for Fiscal Year 2027.
  • Purchase Approval: Cisco Network Lease
The Board approved a seven-year equipment lease for updated network infrastructure, financed by Cisco and purchased through Presidio Networked Solutions Group, LLC, an awarded IPHEC vendor.
  • Naming Approval: “Frost Field at Coaches Stadium”
Trustees approved renaming Monier Field as Frost Field in recognition of the lasting contributions of Harry (B.S., Chemistry, 1960) and Gladys Frost to EIU Athletics and Chemistry. Mr. Frost, a career chemist with Illinois Cereal Mills/Cargill, has been honored as both EIU Distinguished Alumnus (2013) and Philanthropist of the Year (2017) awards.
  • Naming Approval: “Monier Intramural Fields”
To continue honoring the service and legacy of Camille Monier, who devoted his career to EIU before retiring as Superintendent of Grounds in 1988, the current intramural fields will now bear his name.
  • Naming Approval: “The Tarble Museum of Art at Eastern Illinois University”
Trustees approved renaming the Tarble Arts Center to the Tarble Museum of Art to better reflect the institution’s mission, donor intent, and its accredited standing with the American Alliance of Art Museums since 2001. The updated name will also ensure clearer distinction between the Tarble Museum of Art at Eastern Illinois University and the Doudna Fine Arts Center to more accurately represent each area’s programming, event orientation, and structural mission.

In addition to these action items, trustees also heard informational reports, including a Title IX update from President Dr. Shawn Peoples, reports from various constituencies, a summary of recent big-ticket purchases, the institutional FY25 Deposit and Investment Report, and various university highlights.

EIU prepares students to accomplish their life goals through a combination of quality academics, personal relationships, and both on-campus and online learning opportunities.
