(Charleston, IL) — Eastern Illinois University Vice President for Enrollment Management Josh Norman has been selected to join the elite 2025 class of the Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program, hosted by the George W. Bush Institute. Norman is one of only 37 individuals nationwide chosen for this highly competitive and nationally recognized initiative focused on advancing outcomes for veterans and their families.
As part of the program, Norman will join a distinguished network of leaders from across sectors—including education, government, military service, nonprofit, and business—who share a deep commitment to creating positive, lasting change for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Stand-To-Veteran Leadership Program features a unique leadership curriculum designed to teach participants the essential skills to be an impactful leader. Participants are chosen following a rigorous national selection process and will engage in five intensive modules over five months that will be led by former presidential administration officials, business leaders, world leaders, luminaries, and veterans’ advocates at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.
“I’m honored and incredibly grateful to be part of this year’s cohort,” said Norman. “This program aligns perfectly with my personal and professional commitment to service. I look forward to bringing the insights I gain back to EIU to support our student veterans and military families even more effectively. I’m especially thankful to EIU’s leadership, my family, and mentors who have supported me on this journey.”
As part of his participation, Norman will develop and lead a personal leadership project aimed at expanding EIU’s support for veterans and military-affiliated students—further underscoring the university’s mission to provide inclusive, high-quality education that prepares all students for meaningful lives and careers.
“Josh’s selection is not only a testament to his leadership, but a reflection of the values we hold dear at EIU: service, integrity, and a strong commitment to community,” said EIU President Jay Gatrell. “We are proud of his achievement and excited for the impact this opportunity will have on our students, our campus, and our community.”
The Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program connects participants with more than 200 alumni nationwide, many of whom now lead veteran-focused efforts in public policy, healthcare, education, and social impact.
