EIU’s Academy of Lifelong Learning to host free local weenie roast

(Charleston, IL)  – The Academy of Lifelong Learning at Eastern Illinois University invites community members to attend its Second Annual Fall Weenie Roast from noon to 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 9 at the Morton Park Pavilion in Charleston.

Join EIU Academy of Lifelong Learning leaders for an afternoon of food and fun to celebrate the beginning of the fall season. Attendees will enjoy free hot dogs, sides, and beverages, making it an opportunity for family and friends to gather and enjoy an afternoon picnic atmosphere.

This year’s Weenie Roast also serves as the grand premiere of the Academy of Lifelong Learning’s Fall 2024 Community Program Guide. The guide features more than 30 original events and dozens more from the Academy’s esteemed partner organizations, ensuring a wide array of educational opportunities for everyone. New this year, the guide includes a “Featured Friend of the Academy Spotlight,” highlighting outstanding members of the Academy community and their contributions to lifelong learning.

Daniel Douglas, program coordinator for the Academy of Lifelong Learning at EIU, will be on hand to answer any questions about the guide or Academy of Lifelong Learning programming while serving up lunch.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the Academy's offerings, connect with community members, and explore new educational programs,” Douglas said. “We encourage everyone to come out and join us for this special event.”
