From EIU's Health Education Resource Center
(Charleston, IL) -- The Health & Counseling Services - Health Education Resource Center (HERC) in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) Division of Substance Use Prevention & Recovery is officially recognized as a Drug Overdose Prevention Program (DOPP).
What this means is that along with the resources the HERC offers, departments on campus can now partner with our office to have Narcan (AKA Naloxone), on hand for FREE. Offices may request Narcan from us for first-aid kits, for individual personal use, or for distribution to EIU students.
This service can be offered to departments at NO COST and with no extra requirements other than to notify our office. Health and Counseling staff are in the process of undergoing “train-the-trainer” certification so that not only will staff be able to deliver Narcan to offices but will be able to train staff and students on the administration of Narcan, recognizing the signs, and recognizing those who are at risk. This will also be FREE to all staff/faculty/students.
Please consider reviewing the link below and passing along to others to receive FREE Narcan or to partner with our office as a distribution point. Students/Staff/Faculty can also visit one of our partners listed below to receive Narcan as well.
