EIU Accepting Applications for Local Child Care Spots

Jul-13-2023

CFLEC provides a safe, engaging environment for kids with busy parents

(Charleston, IL) – The Child & Family Life Education Center at Eastern Illinois University is currently accepting enrollments for local child care opportunities this fall.

During the Fall 2023 semester, spots are available for local parents/guardians with eligible children ages 3 to pre-K from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 5 through December 7. There is a flat fee of $100 per child, with care taking place in EIU’s Buzzard Hall, on campus at 600 Lincoln Avenue in Charleston.

EIU’s CFLEC includes an enriched learning environment where young children can play, explore, interact and learn. The center is focused on program planning, teaching, caregiving, and child guidance techniques that promote development encompassing the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of each child in the program.

More broadly, EIU’s Child & Family Life Education Center (CFLEC) functions as the practicum site for University’s Department of Human Services (HSL) courses, serving families with young children by providing enrichment opportunities for growth and development. The purpose of the center is to provide exemplary child-family oriented program for EIU students who are studying human services and interested in careers of care. CFLEC provides the dynamic setting for EIU students to work closely under professional guidance to learn best-practice techniques in caring for young children while also developing skills in managing and evaluating quality early childhood programming.
