Each year, the Mathematics & Computer Science Department awards nearly 50 scholarships and prizes worth more than $170,000 to students majoring in the department’s programs. These awards are due to the generosity of alumni and friends of the department. In recent years, we have awarded scholarships to approximately 40% of students who have taken at least one course in the major. We award most scholarships at the end of the spring semester for the following academic year.

We consider students from any major in the department (Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics for Teacher Licensure) for a scholarship award. Students begin the application process by completing the General Application through the EIU Scholarship page. This application is critical, as there are many additional scholarships and awards across campus that students may qualify for. Students receiving departmental scholarships remain eligible for other scholarships and awards from the University.
