Apply to the Program

To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the following requirements. Note: Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

  1. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale
  2. A current resume
  3. Statement of purpose essay:
    • Describe why you want to pursue a graduate degree in Health Promotion. Explain how the MS Health Promotion aligns with your professional goals and objectives.
    • Describe your academic and professional strengths and weaknesses. How do you plan to address your weaknesses so that you can be successful in your graduate studies?
  4. A completed and submitted PROGRAM APPLICATION through MyEIU.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Julie Dietz at jcdietz@eiu.edu .

Monitor Your Admission Status

You'll be able to keep tabs on the status of your application through MyEIU; you'll receive a message when you have been officially admitted to EIU!

NOTE: Admission to the Graduate School does not guarantee you will be admitted to the MS Health Promotion graduate program.

Apply for an Assistantship

If you are interested in a graduate assistantship, you also need to submit a graduate assistantship application.

Graduate assistantships are typically awarded in accordance with the academic year. Assistantship applications are normally accepted through the middle of February; a decision for the next academic year comes within a month. For more information about graduate assistantships, please click here.
