Meningitis Information

The American College Heath Association (ACHA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (CDC-ACIP), recommends that students consider vaccination to reduce their risk for potentially fatal meningococcal disease and that college health care providers take a proactive role in providing information and access to the meningococcal disease vaccine, particularly to freshmen living in residence halls.

In an effort to be proactive in addressing the topic of meningitis, Eastern's Health & Counseling Services - Medical Clinic makes the following information available for students and parents/guardians. Eastern Illinois University follows the recommendations of the ACHA and CDC-ACIP by providing information on the topic of meningitis.
