U.S./Domestic Admissions Process
- To become a graduate student, you will apply to the EIU Graduate School and, if you are seeking a degree in a particular discipline, to your preferred graduate program.
Need coursework without applying to a graduate program? Please follow the admissions process directions, and when prompted, select "non-degree" on the admission application.
- Begin your journey with the EIU Graduate School, access the application process through your MyEIU portal by clicking here: Begin Your EIU Graduate School Application Process. Please note: The application requires a $30 non-refundable fee. (McNair Scholars, EIU employees, veterans, and GN4U participants may receive a waiver for the application fee.)
- As part of your application, official transcripts are required. (If you received your undergraduate degree from EIU, the Graduate School will request your transcript from the EIU Records Office.) To be considered official, transcripts must be received directly from your school. Transcripts sent directly from the student cannot be accepted. Electronic transcripts may be submitted by your school via Parchment/Docufide, Common App and eScript-Safe, or as a .pdf attachment emailed to gradadmissions@eiu.edu.
Official paper transcripts may be mailed to:
