The Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation undergraduate program in Exercise Science provides students with the scientific knowledge of the underlying principles of exercise training through instruction and practical experience. Students receive instruction in the areas of exercise physiology, biomechanics and exercise psychology. Additional experience is gained through an internship placement in a fitness or clinical setting. Upon graduation, students are prepared for employment in areas such as health clubs, fitness centers, personal training, corporate fitness, and cardiac rehabilitation. The program also prepares students who desire to pursue a graduate degree in the exercise sciences.
The Exercise Science curriculum prepares students in many content areas that are necessary for successful admission into a Doctorate in Physical Therapy program. With the addition of a Pre-Physical Therapy Option to the Exercise Science major, students can increase the likelihood of successful admission even more.
