Careers in Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering is an excellent field to go into, as the job prospects are very good.  According to the occupational data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean annual salary for an Electrical Engineer was $101,600 in 2018. They also predict that most areas of Engineering will show more job opportunities over the next several years and Electrical Engineering will do very well in job creating.  This is shown graphically here.

Work experience

You can gain a hands-on, practical understanding of engineering systems, and the specialized industries they're used in, through work experience. That is one of the reasons that we have an internship program, to broaden your skill set and establish a network of contacts. You may also want to look into setting one up yourself during the summer months. If you are setting it up yourself, you should check into the career services section of company websites for any work experience or advertised internships.

Another benefit to doing as many internships as you are able is that a period spent gaining work experience or shadowing can help you decide which direction to take your career.
