The College of Education Dean's Office typically staffs about five assistantships; since most graduate assistants serve for two years, in a given year the Dean's Office will hire an average of two or three graduate assistants.
Because the College's priorities, initiatives, and needs change from year to year, the nature of graduate assistant work will also change from year to year. Areas in which our graduate assistant work include recruitment and retention of minority students; rural schools initiative; assessment and accreditation efforts for the university's educator preparation programs; providing support for the Instructional Technology Center in Buzzard Hall; alumni outreach; philanthropy activities; testing support for education majors, and publications for the College.
