National Forum to Advanced Rural Education Conference

EIU students networked with administrators/teachers at the conference in Indianapolis, Indiana and gained ideas for their future classrooms and the EIU Rural Teacher Corps.

 

Kristen Holly - Virtual Speaker (Leader In Me)

 Kristin HollyKristen Holly, the assistant superintendent from Charleston's school district, came to the Rural Teacher Corps meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Kristen gave the RTC students an insight into the Leader in Me program and how it has impacted their school. The teachers and staff at Charleston are very pleased with how quickly Leader in Me has positively changed their school culture and how much it has helped with the transition from in-person to remote learning. Charleston is still in the early stages of Leader in Me implementation, but the results are already starting to show.

 

Technology Panel (virtual)

Martinsville Elementary Education Fair

EIU students observed students’ projects on various topics ranging from geology, teacher interviews, education in other countries, anything related to education that the 5th or 6th graders found interesting. They enjoyed seeing the students' enthusiasm show through their projects. Afterwards, several teachers from the Martinsville Elementary spoke about why they teach and the benefits in a rural community.
