(WEIU TV) Take a Hike: The Mini-Series TASTE AWARDS Finalist

WEIU-TV is excited to share Season 2 of “Take a Hike: The Mini-Series” is a finalist for the 15th Annual TASTE AWARDS. For over a decade, the TASTE AWARDS have celebrated the year's best in Food, Fashion, Health, Travel, and Lifestyle programs in Film, Television, Online & Streaming Video, Podcasts, Radio and Photography.

Season 2 of Take a Hike: The Mini-Series, is a finalist in the following categories:

• Best Travel Program
• Best Nature or Animal Program, Film or Documentary

• Best Action, Sports, Adventure or Outdoors Program, Film, or Documentary

Take a Hike: The Mini-Series takes viewers on an “Outdoor Tour” of Illinois, showcasing a variety of federal, state, and local parks and nature areas. Host Lacey Spence shows viewers why they should “take a hike,” (or make the drive!) to the locations featured in each episode. Season 1 of the program was a finalist in the 14th Annual TASTE AWARDS in the category of "Best New Series." An announcement for this year’s award winners is expected later this Spring.

The show is spearheaded by Producer and Host, Lacey Spence. Take a Hike: The Mini-Series is among the lineup of WEIU-TV’s other local productions including WEIU News Watch, City
Spotlight, The Paw Report, Issues & Attitudes, the This is Our Story Series, and Being Well (which is also hosted by Spence.)  “It’s such a blessing I get to call this ‘work!’ It’s not every day you score a job that lets you
travel to some of the best outdoor spaces Illinois has to offer. The variety Season 2 had to offer is astounding, and myself and videographer Rameen Karbassioon are so excited the locations

we visited are getting highlighted for a whole new audience!” said Spence.

Season 2 Take a Hike Locations Include:
• Episode 1 – Walnut Point State Park
• Episode 2 – University of Illinois Arboretum
• Episode 3 – Warbler Ridge Conservation Area
• Episode 4 – Lake Sara
• Episode 5 – Mill Creek Lake & Park
• Episode 6 – Garden of the Gods

Take a Hike: The Mini-Series is underwritten by: First Mid Bank & Trust and Rural King WEIU-TV is a service of Eastern Illinois University, and a partial PBS Station. Through the television and radio programs, EIU students are able to get hands-on experience in aprofessional broadcasting environment.
