KSR Student Ambassador Program

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who represent the Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation Department in a variety of on and off-campus recruitment and retention efforts. Selected Ambassadors are expected to participate in the program for two full semesters. Under the guidance of the department chair, Ambassadors have the opportunity to participate in EIU open house events, college visit days and regional university recruitment fairs. The athletic training student club meets the first Tuesday of each month in Lantz club room. The Athletic Training Student club participates in many activities throughout the academic year. During the fall semester a Christmas party is planned. In the Spring, the students participate in EIU's health fair and plan a spring picnic/awards function. The students also raise money through fundraising to help fund trips to GLATA and the NATA National Convention, as well as, purchase athletic training clothing and educational equipment for the students.

The athletic training club also is involved in a number of community services projects including hosting a bi-annual blood drive, an annual food drive during National Athletic Trainers Association Month (March) and collecting Toys for Tots during the holiday season.

Scholarships

As a student within the Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation Department, you are eligible for a number of Exercise Science specific scholarships at Eastern Illinois University. The application period is in early Spring of each year. Scholarships are awarded each year at the Annual Awards Banquet in April. Every year the Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation Department awards more than 14 scholarships to our wonderful students. To learn more about the available scholarships or to apply, please click here

Academic Advising

Students in the Department of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation should meet with their academic advisor each semester.  This provides guidance in selecting the courses required toward graduation and is how you obtain your alternate pin number to be eligible to register.  The academic advisor for athletic training students is Dr. Lee Ann Price.  Her email address is lprice@eiu.edu and her office is located in 2251 Lantz.
