BREAK & SUMMER HOUSING
Break Housing
Available for those students who need to stay on campus when the rest of the University closes for breaks (longer than three days) for an additional fee. Buildings that offer break housing are Lawson, Lincoln, Powell-Norton, Stevenson and Taylor Halls.
Students experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness, as verified through EIU's Financial Aid Office, may qualify for free housing during breaks (Thanksgiving, Semester and Spring breaks). Students who are unsure of their status or whose situation has changed may contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for verification or assistance.
Additional break and closing information can be found at eiu.edu/housing/closinginfo.
Summer Housing
Summer 2025 Housing will be offered in Ford Hall for students enrolled in the 4-week, 6-week, or 8-week summer school sessions. Contracts can be signed in the Housing Office, located in the lower level of the MLK Jr. University Union.
Students who currently reside in University Court AND have already signed a contract
to live in University Court for fall may have the option of remaining in University
Court if they will be enrolled in summer courses; however, the same unit may not be
guaranteed. For University Court summer eligibility and contract questions, please
contact Gary Uteg at gfuteg@eiu.edu.
