EIU Educator Preparation

Speech-Language Patholgist

Typically, graduate candidates require six consecutive full-time semesters to complete their master's degree. A usual program includes four semesters of advanced coursework and practicum followed by two 14-week internships, one in an educational setting and one in a medical setting. The master's degree program includes 33 semester hours of core courses required for all candidates, six to seven semester hours of advanced practicum and 18 hours of internships. In addition to successful completion of coursework and internships, candidates must either pass oral and written comprehensive exams OR complete a thesis. Oral and written comprehensive exams are typically held on EIU's campus between internship experiences in the second year of study.
