EIU Child & Family Life Education Center

EIU students are able to have
hands-on work & research
experiences at the Center.

In the Child & Family Life Education Center, we provide an inclusive environment intended to support children’s physical, social, and emotional development and provide educational resources to families.

Our Areas

Child Development Laboratory

The Child Development Laboratory is housed within the Child and Family Life Education Center. This is a practicum site for EIU students who seek degrees in Human Services, Education, or related fields. The site provides education, research, and experiential learning opportunities for EIU students, as well as child care and education for children 3-5 years of age and their families.

Research

In addition to offering the child development practicum as an experiential learning opportunity for EIU students, members of the EIU community may conduct research in the Child Development Laboratory through the observation booth or outdoor spaces. All research conducted in the Child Development Laboratory must be approved through EIU Institutional Review Board or be exempt.
