The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is an instrument focused on equipping colleges and universities with a deeper understanding of student success and existing academic and co-curricular practices on their campuses. NSSE’s national scope provides institutions with an opportunity to benchmark their performance relative to peers, as well as aspirants, across four core domains: Academic Challenge, Learning with Peers, Experiences with Faculty, and Campus Environment. Each year hundreds of institutions participate in NSSE and EIU participates in the NSSE survey every three years. EIU uses the data to understand and assess the student experience and support the assessment of student learning—particularly as it relates to the University Learning Goals.
