CPT William R. Comstock IV Biography
Captain William R Comstock is a native of Charleston, Illinois and enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1999. Upon graduation from Boot Camp at Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA, he served as a Security Guard in Marine Corps Security Force Battalion in Kings Bay, GA until 2001. Afterwards, he served as an infantryman in 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC from 2001-2003, where he held the leadership positions of team leader and squad leader. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2003.
During his break in service, he pursued a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University. He completed his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in General Studies in 2010. In 2011, he contracted with Eastern Illinois Universities ROTC program in order to obtain a Master’s Degree and earn a commission as a United States Army Officer. He earned Distinguished Military Graduate Honors, a Master’s of Science degree in Training and Development, and commissioned as a 2LT in 2013.
Once he completed the Basic Officer Leader’s Course at Fort Lee, VA, he took his first assignment as a platoon leader of a Forward Support Company Maintenance Platoon with the 5th Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. In July of 2015, he became the Executive Officer of the Combat Training Committee for the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, also at Fort Leonard Wood MO. While working as an Executive Officer, he spent his nights and weekends pursuing a second Master’s Degree. In 2017, he earned his Master’s of Science degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. After Graduating from the Captain’s Career Course at Fort Lee, VA, he was assigned to the 832D Transportation Battalion where he held the positions of Transportation Officer, Operations Officer and Battalion S-1 Officer in Charge.
From May of 2019 to May of 2021, he became the Company Commander for the 331ST Transportation Company, the Army’s only Modular Causeway Company. While serving as the Company Commander, he successfully deployed his company to Gulfport MS. in support of Joint Readiness Exercise ’19, McMurdo Station in Antarctica to support the National Science Foundation’s resupply of McMurdo Station and to United Arab Emirates in support of Operation Native Fury ’21. In June of 2021, he was assigned as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Eastern Illinois University.
CPT Comstock’s awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Antarctica Service Medal.
CPT Comstock is married to Kristina Marie Comstock ‘Krissy’. He has two children, William ‘Riley’ Comstock V (14) and Kadence Madison Comstock (3).
